Good morning! Funny story: I thought the book club was over. I checked my promotions inbox and saw this email! lol
The Flippity Word Master will enhance math vocabulary in small groups. Pixicade will enhance number sentence fluency. Peardeck will assess students at each stage a process.
I have planned all summer to have my own site for next school year, so I am excited that it is one of the activities!
For those curious, you can design a page for free through Wix. However, if you are willing to pay, you can get help and extra features.
My page is still using the default information at this time, but it is all customizable. Last year, I taught HS Band, Choir, and ENL, but I am not entirely sure what I am teaching for the coming year. I did not want to add a bunch of things I might need to delete, so I am waiting until I know my schedule.
There's a lot of good information here--- I have to translate a bit to secondary, but it is well worth the effort. I find it kept my mind on progression---- of which I am grateful! Thank you for the consistency and creative BOOST.
Grace Munoz- Trix Academy I chose option 2 and made a digital choice board for learning about how animals take care of their young. I based this on a Michigan science standard for 1st grade. The scholars would learn about a few animals of their choice, then make a response on flip grid to share with their classmates. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1qa5PkGCVUSk9M6crjxEXnyNxw8mnwvcApuwzTo-GG0U/edit
I love how you made Flipgrid central to the choice board, but allowed them to pick an animal of choice. I think this gives them good structure, but also freedom in what animal they want to learn about. This would be wonderful for first grade. -Anna Zvers, PLA@93
I decided to create a Response to Reading Digital Choice Board (Culminating Activity #2). I adapted a choice board that I found from @nadinegilkison. I made the choice board for the students to respond to a common 4th grade read-aloud, "Holes" by Louis Sachar. This choice board could be adapted for any response to reading. Here is a link to my choice board: https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1z2hlRwN4ACFAp1IJVfAdqAb_1xCr2DLJFWupbrP9Q8k/edit?usp=sharing -Anna Zvers, PLA@93
As a coach who doesn't have a classroom, I'm opting to share some websites and/or Google sites I've used for supporting teachers and/or implementing PDs.
My resources page- I've used this in the past by keeping it updated with resources to share with teachers and/or for me to use as a go-to for links to resources-- https://sites.google.com/phalenacademies.org/rouses-resources/home
Our staff website- used for resources for staff- updated as we have resources to share- https://arouse103.wixsite.com/falconfiles
A PD agenda on a Google Site- shared with staff so they have the agenda and resources- https://sites.google.com/phalenacademies.org/pla103pd9-1-21/wed-9-1-21-pd
As a teacher of younger scholars, It is a challenge to do some of these activity. My kiddos are still learning their letters and sounds, writing simple words and learning letter formation. I did create a virtual classroom that my scholars can use to access resources we use in the classroom. It helps them review skills and challenge themselves with certain skills. These visual activities gives the scholars and different way to practice skills. The classroom has stories, language arts practice along with math games and manipulatives. https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1QVzwrXEzqltrBAZc1-PiF8nmtU21s4eteld5uAXhBbg/edit#slide=id.g8d3b8365a8_0_0
Mindi, I agree with you that some of these activities are challenging for younger scholars. I teach kindergarten and I'm excited to see the activities you created. I think mine is similar to yours. I requested access to your activity. Charlene Long-Trix Academy.
Heather Barney - I was thinking the same when developing the lesson, with how it can be difficult for younger scholars. I also look forward to checking out these activities.
I love the idea of many of these activities. I chose to do activity 2. As a kindergarten teacher I feel that my scholars would benefit most from a choice board. I chose to do the board based on skills practice. My school has time set for small group time. During small group time one of our rotations is technology time. We have many tech tools at our school. In my choice board I used those tools (reading a-z, and edgenuity) as links on the boards as well as many others. I'm hoping these choices will help keep scholars engaged and feel like they have power over their learning. I'm so excited to use this in the upcoming school year. I will definitely be posting it to my google classroom. https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1w9jtsWMfucPzR1zmH3x8GG4oiJwyYbatW_LSFpRLF18/edit#slide=id.p
Heather Barney 103 The goals of these lessons were for scholars to work on/comprehend the following: 1. Characters of a story 2. Setting within a story 3. Retelling a story Library activities often focus on the elements of a story. Special area classes last 40 minutes, so in the library setting the lessons are around 20 minutes, followed by an activity that keeps scholars busy when choosing and checking out books. Often scholars bring chrome books, so this choice board can be utilized to offer choice and expand on engaging scholars for dynamic learning.
Oh no! I think I missed the last week. Teacher Training and classroom set-up has started so I had to switch my focus. I have created a Google classroom for my Kindergartners/Families. I added google slides for interactive games and I created an area to post at home art & etc. to be shared within our classroom. Sorry, the link must remain private.
I made a Google Slides presentation for my resource room. This is something that would likely be added to a classroom's Google Classroom or other site they use. Because I am not sure which grades I am working with, I left my activities page blank.

This looks great and will be very informative when you're able to personalize it.
DeleteI really like your website. It is a great resource for scholars and families. I will allow families to find and access material/helpful tools.

This is really cute and gives scholars choice and the ability to publish their work.
